Party strategy at Sept rally: Uma

india Updated: Aug 15, 2006 18:19 IST

BHARATIYA JANSHAKTI Party national president Uma Bharti on Monday said that her party would reveal its strategy for the forthcoming Vidhan Sabha election at a rally to be held here on September 25. She said her party would not compromise on the ‘Ram-Roti’ issue and go for pre-poll alliance with the party, which liked the ideology of her party.

Predicting a rout of the Samajwadi Party in the Assembly elections, Uma said the support to SIMI, call for ‘Muslim Pradesh’ and beating of a Superintendent of Police by an SP leader had degraded the image of Mulayam Singh Yadav and people wanted to get rid of his government.

Hitting out at criminal-politician nexus, Uma said they’re ruling the roost in the State. “All political parties including BJP had used the support of mafiosi to gain power. The real challenge against criminal-mafia nexus is in UP,” she said.

Talking to media persons here on Monday, she alleged that the Congress party candidate Sonia Gandhi won the Rae Bareli Lok Sabha seat by using terror tactics. Due to fear, majority people did not come out to cast their votes and a meagre 42 percent votes were polled.

On desertion of her supporters, she said several leaders who were with her had left the party and new ones would join her party. In reply to a query, she said, in view of the political scenario in the Purvanchal region, her close lieutenant Ramashish Rai treaded a separate path.

The party had decided to field its candidates in the urban local bodies elections. After assessing the performance in the civic polls, we would decide over the number of seats to field the candidates, she said.
