SENIOR BJP leader Sushma Swaraj is not aware of any survey on the probable candidates for the Vidisha parliamentary constituency.
Further, why should she contest the by-poll when she has been elected to Rajya Sabha just six months ago, she says. She said these while talking to journalists at the State BJP office on Sunday during her visit here to attend certain programmes.
When she was quizzed on the reported survey conducted in Vidisha Lok Sabha constituency, which highlighted Sadhana Singh as the first choice, she curtly said that she was not aware of any such survey. “It was the party’s election committee which would decide the candidate,” she replied.
The state unit would recommend the names but it did not mean that all those names doing the rounds would definitely find their names in the list, she quipped.
In reply to another question on former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s remarks at the party’s national executive at Dehradun on elder leaders, she said the media did not interpret his remarks properly.
“In fact, when Atalji said something the media should look at his posture also. What he meant with his words was that the senior leaders’ advice mattered,” she said.
On Vande Matram she said if the Congress had committed any mistake in calculating the centenary of the national song, the BJP had nothing to do.
“The BJP has done what it was supposed to do- spreading the objective behind the song in the masses,” she said.
