Passenger train looted near Ghazipur

A gang of robbers looted passengers including ladies and a police constable after attacking them in a passenger train in Ghazipur district.

The miscreants deprived the passengers of their belongings worth lakhs of rupees. Later, the miscreants fled the scene after pulling the chain near Katyatal area in the district.

The Government Railway Police has registered a case but dacoits have not been tracedout yet.

According to information, the passenger train, Gorakhpur - Manduadeeh train , 547 up was on its way to Varanasi after its departure from Sadat station in Ghazipur late on Tuesday night. As the train was passing by the Sadat area in Ghazipur district, nearly half a dozen, robbers, traveling in disguise of passengers, whipped out firearms and started looting the passengers.

When, some of the passengers including ladies and a police constable protested the miscreants, they beat up the constable, Shamsher Singh, posted at Kerakat police station in Jaunpur, and snatched his mobile and Rs 6000.

Sensing more danger, the constable jumped down from the moving train and got injured. The miscreants also looted mobiles, watches and gold ornaments of other passengers. Soon, the miscreants pulled the chain and fled the scene.

As the train reached the Aurihar railway station, the passengers informed to the Government Railway Police (GRP) at Aurihar station. The cops rushed the compartment of the train and took the injured constable to the hospital for treatment.

The station officer of GRP at Aurihar, Sharda Nand Singh along with cops, went to the spot on Wednesday where the miscreants had got down after pulling the chain. The police team tried to get clues about the miscreants in nearby villages but none of them could be nabbed.
