Sartoria at Vasant Kunj hosted the Tuscany Food Festival - the cuisine of the Renaissance. The menu loads of pasta, fresh herbs and vegetables.

Tuscany is a charmed land, equally blessed by the genius of man and nature. It is the land of the plentiful - wines, vegetables and hence, wonderful fresh vegetables and wine.

Striving to bring the flavour of such cuisine, Sartoria at Vasant Kunj hosted the Tuscany Food Festival - the cuisine of the Renaissance. The menu was as Italian as one could get - loads of pasta, fresh herbs and vegetables and treated meats.

And don't forget the wine! Red, White or Rose, here, you can't go wrong! If you are in the mood for a leisurely lunch, you can start with the Bruschetta Toscana - tomato, sweet basil and extra virgin olive oil on toasted Ciabatta on garlic bread. It is the essential start to every meal at an Italian table worth its salt.

Follow with the Tulipano Di Verdure Con Salsa Pepperone Piccante - a basket of Parmesan cheese with assorted grilled vegetables and chilli tomato salsa. The veggies are grilled, slightly overdone, but we don't hear anyone complaining.

For those who prefer to go light on the main course, the Crema Di Zucca E Mele Con Mondorle Arostito - roasted pumpkin and apple soup with almonds is not only soothing, it is the promise of better things to come.

The main course is something else… be it the Penne Alla Paesana - Penne in fresh tomato, basil and Mediterranean vegetable sauces- a must-have for veggies as well as die-hard non-veggies for its wholesome nutritional value and simplicity. Or try the Fettuccini Al Ragu Di Pollo - Broad noodles in chicken and herbed ragout.

The latter is more Indianised and spicy (Of course!) The chicken on wooden skewers reminds you of a certain kebab always on your mind that your chef or cook never got right. Here, they managed to perfect it! What's an Italian meal without a pizza? Try the Pizza Di Integrale - whole wheat flour pizza with corn, bell peppers, artichoke, zuccini, chillies (cheese is optional).

Health food at its best! You'd expect all that food to make you one inactive sloth. Here's the good news… the food served at Sartoria is healthy, farm fresh and carefully cooked to bring out without all the flavour, without the guilt. Meal for two - Rs 2,000 (without alcohol).

Tuesday nights are celebration nights. Pay Rs 2,000 for a couple and enter the world of romance - a violinist to serenade you, complete with a bottle of wine and a four course meal.
