A five-year-old girl who fell into a borewell in Patna's Mitra Mandal Colony on Sunday morning died after she was pulled out in an unconscious state.
State disaster response force deputy commissioner AK Jha earlier said the child was alive when she was rescued. "The child was stuck in mud and her breathing was feeble," Jha said after the girl was sent to a hospital for immediate medical care.
The girl, who was stuck in the borewell for around five hours, was declared dead by doctors at the hospital later.

The incident came a day after a seven-year-old girl fell into a 50-feet deep borewell in Rajasthan's Sikar district.
Several such cases of children falling in borewells have been reported since the police and army rescued a six-year-old boy trapped in a well for more than 40 hours in 2006.
Prince, who goes by only the first name, had accidentally fallen into the well — one foot in diameter — while playing near his house in the city of Kurukshetra in Haryana. The plight of the six-year-old — shown live by satellite channels — evoked a strong wave of support and sympathy for Prince, with prayers being offered for the boy from different corners of the country.
