PDP fields MP Beigh's nephew from Baramulla

The People's Democratic Party's political affairs committee (PAC) on Friday announced mandate to eleven more candidates with Baramulla seat to be contested by Member of Parliament (MP) Muzaffar Hussein Beigh's nephew.

There were speculations hinting at Beigh's preference to return to the state politics. Beigh won the Baramulla parliament seat in May.

However, senior Beigh's nephew Javaid Beigh and not his wife Safeena Beigh will be contesting from the Baramulla assembly segment, putting to rest the speculations surrounding the Beighs.

The party has decided to field Noor Mohammad for Srinagar's Batamaloo constituency, while Ali Mohammad Wani will contest from Eidgah. Both the seats in the past remained with the National Conference.

The PAC also decided to field Chaman Manyal for the Jammu region's Raipur-Domana constituency, Dev Raj Bhaghat for Akhnoor, Madan Lal for Chhamb, Subhash Sharma for Kathua, Suraj Prakash for Hira Nagar, Jitender Singh for Billawar, Rangeel Singh for Basohli and Mohammad Salim Lone for Bani.

The PAC meeting --- attended by Mehbooba Mufti, Muzaffar Hussain Baigh, Tariq Hameed Karra, Sardar Rangil Singh, Mohammad Dillawar Mir, T S Bajwa, Qazi Mohammad Afzal, Dr Haseeb Drabu, Vikramaditya Singh, Yashpal Sharma, Syed Altaf Bukhari and Dr Sameer Kaul --- decided to field fresh candidates from Srinagar.

The party has fielded 84 candidates out of 87 seats so far.
