Terming the Omar Abdullah-led government as "gang of looters", the People's Democratic Party (PDP) on Thursday took out a protest rally and blocked the Jammu-Pathankot national highway for an hour. Scores of PDP activists led by their senior leaders assembled at the party office situated at Gandhi Nagar and moved towards the Jammu-Pathankot national highway and brought the traffic to a stand still for an hour on Thursday afternoon.
The party alleged that the government has brazenly been looting the state since January 2009. Addressing the protest rally against the alleged failure of the NC-Congress government, PDP leaders said the protest rally was declaration of war against the government that has failed to solve problems of the masses due to its indifferent and casual approach towards woes of the people.
PDP leaders alleged that corruption had been legalised because government had encouraged its leaders and workers to indulge into corrupt practices. They said that state government was involved neck deep in corruption at all levels.
PDP leaders said the state was in grip of unprecedented crises due to non-availability of ration in the government runs depots, scarcity of drinking water in most parts of Jammu region coupled with the unscheduled power curtailments.
PDP asked the workers to mobilise public opinion against this anti-people regime and in the last five years, the government stands exposed as it has reneged on all promises made with the people during campaign for the 2008 assembly elections.
