Extending good wishes to the people on the arrival of the holy month of Ramzan, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) said it expects that government will make all out and sincere effort to ensure an atmosphere of peace and security for smooth observance of fast and prayers by the devotees during the holy month.

“The party hopes that gains consolidated on peace and security will sustain further for a better future of the people of the state, who have undergone suffering and trauma in the past many many years,” a party statement read.

Party general secretary Nizamudin Bhat, expressing his sentiments on behalf of the party, prayed that the holy month proves an occasion to come out of chaos, deprivations and feelings of dismay. Bhat suggested to the government to seek cooperation and involve community leaders to raise the moral standards and also save society from any degeneration.

He urged the government to gear up social welfare department as well as Muslim Auqaf Trust (MAT) also for generous support to orphans, widows, sick and individuals in distress as part of an obligation and mark of respect.

He said MAT and other religious institutions could be motivated to offer help for Sehri and Iftaar to the deprived and poor at main mosques.

Bhat said, “It is satisfying that the government has committed itself to uninterrupted supply of power, gas, ration and water. The smooth supply of all essential commodities in urban and rural areas, including far-flung areas, along with power supply, needs to be ensured further.”

Bhat recalled how the Mufti Sayeed led government in 2002 had made holy month of Ramzan as bench mark for transformation and change ensuring all kinds of amenities through a dedicated approach.

He hoped a similar kind of dedication and administrative efficiency for better management of state’s affairs would be inculcated for secure and prosperous future. He hoped that the holy month of Ramzan augers well for a refreshed positive beginning.
