People flock to Maruti mega check-up camp

FREE HEALTH check-up, diabetes or eye check-up camps are not new but Maruti Udyog Limited’s effort to get associated with customers through its free two-day mega check-up camp – the first of its kind in the City – received a good customer turnout here on Saturday.

Maruti servicemen checked more than 250 cars on the first day of the camp at Dussehra Maidan. The camp that was limited to free check-up of vehicles and problem diagnosis, and not treatment – arranged entertainment for customers and their families.

“Its a Maruti carnival and our aim is to provide the customers, with an opportunity to have a day-out with their family members, simultaneously getting their vehicles checked by our company trained technicians,” a Maruti official told Hindustan Times.

A Maruti car owner virtually does not have to step out of his car during the check-up process. The owner is welcomed at the reception with a rose stick and this is followed by a pack of snacks and fruit juice.

Once the form is filled up, the car is moved to the next counters for body inspection, underhood counter and cabin check. Finally, the mechanic would hand you a list that would contain a data-sheet advising customers on what defects need attention. In the meantime, the camp has entertainment facilities like orchestra, games and camel ride for children along with free popcorn and sugar candy.

“The effort is to create brand loyalty of Suzuki by making the service process attractive, and also keeping customers updated with several facts,” Options Event Management’s Aashish K Sharma said.

Several other vendors belonging to tyre, battery and accessory companies along with Maruti dealers have set up stalls here. “We are here to sell concepts related to the car’s glass treatment, body protection and related facilities, Manoj Chhabra of Mileage Shoppe said.

“We have displayed cars, demo vehicles and our services. Valuation of car can also be done,” Jeevan Motors’ manager (Works) H M Bargal said.

But a question also haunted car owners. “Why a similar treatment facility is not available at many of the Maruti dealers’ service centers and why no treatment is being provided in the camp,” a customer Manoj Verma asked.
