With the Congress getting a good 21 seats in the Lok Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh, Union Minister Sriprakash Jaiswal in Kanpur on Saturday said that the people now want to see a Congress government in the state also.

Exhorting the party workers to unitedly work for the assembly elections in the state in 2012, Minister of State for Coal (Independent Charge), Jaiswal said that as the Rahul factor dominated the Lok Sabha polls, the same will work in the assembly elections and a Congress government will be formed in the state.

Visiting his Parliamentary constituency for the first time after being appointed as the Union Minister, he said that the parties playing the communal card in the elections should keep quiet as the electorate has now become aware and will not vote on the basis of religion.
