THE RESIDENTS of the Vijay Stambh Apartments in Maharana Pratap Nagar Zone I have created history of sorts by contributing as much as Rs 9.54 lakh for undertaking development work near their apartment block including boundary wall and cement concrete road.
This is the first time that such a huge amount has been contributed by the people for development work in the City. A cheque of Rs 9,54,450 was handed over the municipal Commissioner Manish Singh on Monday. The residents were encouraged by the local corporator D K Saxena for this historic contribution.
Speaking on the occasion, Singh lauded the gesture of the citizens and the initiative taken by the corporator. Singh recalled that before this corporator Saxena was instrumental in getting development work done through people’s participation at Chinar Retreat, Goyal Nagar and Maharana Pratap Nagar.
He expressed hope that the people’s representatives in other wards would also take similar initiative. Singh also directed the officials to start development work worth Rs 20 lakh in the area.
D K Saxena, Vijay Nagar Rahwasi Kalyan Samiti president P K Mandloi, general secretary Bharatbhushan Pachouri, treasurer Vimal Kumar Chhajer, ward president Mahesh Shakya, vice-president Anil Sahu, Kailash Chanakya, Sanjay Yadav, Rajesh Rai, Sushil Pande and others were present.
