Saran Vikram

Saran Vikram rejoined the racing circuit after a gap of two years. At the Madras Motor Race Track on Saturday, he announced his return with a comfortable win in the JK Tyre FMSCI National Racing Championships LGB Formula 4 category even as Ashwin Sundar cried foul over a restart decision. Vikram had won the Formula Rolon in 2010 and had to graduate to the next level which he couldn't due to lack of funds.

"It's the father-son chemistry that did the trick," he said after winning race 1. His father Shanmugham, who runs a garage, is his tuner. Ameya Walavalkar took pole in the JK Tyre Volkswagen Polo R Cup.

The Mumbaikar will be joined on the front row by local lad Sandeep Kumar and former champion Sailesh Bolisetti. Walavalkar had led from start to finish at the last race weekend in Coimbatore too.
