If there’s one make-up product that has always been an important part of the daily beauty ritual for young women, it’s kajal. But even though they apply a kajal day in and day out, many still fail to master the art of applying it. College student Sarika Sharma, for example, faces a common problem: "I’ve been applying it for four years , but I still can’t understand why it smudges."
Kiran Bawa, cosmetologist at Iosis Medispa, says, “Always apply kajal on the white area just above your eyelashes. Girls normally apply kajal on eyelashes, the reason why it spreads every time you wink.” Beauty expert Ambika Pillai says, “Never use a sharp kajal tip. Take a small round tip brush and apply black or brown shadow underneath the eyelash of your lower lid. It not only prevents kajal from smudging but also give a smoky look.”
Make-up expert Simmi Ghai of Xpressions shares a new trend that’s catching up with young girls — the two-line kajal. “One can try a two line kajal to give a different look. Apply lines of two different colours (black, brown or bottle green). One can also go for glitter kajal.” Mini Yadav, beauty expert, Bella Madonna, says, “Apply a fine line of kajal and then merge it with an eyeliner brush. You can also use pan cake powder on the outer coat of the kajal to help it stay intact the entire day.”
Rub an ice cube under your eyes to prevent any sweating.
Apply the kajal on the white area just above your lower eyelashes.
Apply mascara on your lower eyelid to lock in the kajal.
The classic way — extending it at the corner of the eyes — looks good with traditional attire.
Draw a firm line with an eyeliner under the lashes, then merge the kajal inside to give an impression of big eyes.
