Success does matter in Bollywood, but not all the time as we’ve just learnt.
Anees Bazmee who’s referred to as the director with the Midas touch after three successive hits (No Entry, Welcome and Singh Is Kingg), was in for a rude shock when Mr Perfectionist Aamir Khan asked to see a bound script of the film that Bazmee wanted to rope the actor into.
The story goes like this: Anees Bazmee approached Aamir Khan with a story idea and Khan loved it. But the perfectionist that he is, he asked him for a bound script. Bazmee was stunned!
Later, Khan advised Bazmee to come up with the bound script with all the necessary details if he wanted him to be a part of the film.
When quizzed about it, Bazmee laughs and says, “Aamir loved the idea. It has an original plot replete with special effects and slick action. I will require at least 125 days from Aamir.”
Talking about Aamir’s demand of a bound script, he admits that he has no hang-ups about Aamir’s working style. On the contrary, he respects it. So Bazmee is working on the bound script with the minutest of details.
He continues, “He asked for a bound script and I assured him that I would even make some last-minute changes during the shoot. But Aamir told me in clear terms that this is not his style of working and he would work with me only if I give him a bound script. He also reminded me that he would give the nod only if he liked the final script.”
It’s been more than six months since their meeting. From what we hear, Bazmee is in the process of wrapping up work on the script. But the director insists that the two have been in constant touch and discuss the project over the phone.
He adds, “We will meet once I’m done. That will be some time towards the end of the year. I intend to release this film next year some time. It will be a different film for both of us.”
So for now, Bazmee is all set to start shooting his next film, No Problem with Sanjay Dutt, Akshay Khanna, Sushmita Sen and Kangana Ranaut.
