Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister has issued a list of do's and dont's to his new Council of Ministers with a curt warning that none would be spared if anything went amiss in their functioning.
"I was lenient during my last term and so many ministers got away with their omissions and commissions. Don't expect the same to happen this time," Rajasekhara Reddy reportedly told his 35 cabinet colleagues soon after they were inducted late on Monday night.
The Chief Minister sent a clear message that he was sitting with the whip in his hand and will not hesitate to crack it if any of the ministers is found wanting in discharge of their duties.
He told them that if they can't perform, they can sit at home and do their own business, senior minister Rosaiah said after the cabinet interaction.
The Chief Minister was very particular that every minister be present in the Legislative Assembly or the Legislative Council, depending on the roster, and take an active part in the proceedings.
There were occasions in the past when questions had to be put off due to absence of some ministers. This time, however, attendance of the ministers will be marked daily and absence of any minister without valid reason would be treated seriously, the Chief Minister said. No laxity will be tolerated, he asserted.
