Personal security officer opens fire, injures one

A person was shot at allegedly by a Personal Security Officer (PSO) of Socialist Democratic Party leader at Teli Basti of Samba district.

A person was shot at allegedly by a Personal Security Officer (PSO) of Socialist Democratic Party leader at Teli Basti of Samba district.


Irshad Ali, who hails from Teli Basti, was shot at by constable Mohammad Saleem, engaged as a PSO of SDP leader Gursevak Singh, with his service rifle after the two entered into a tiff over some land dispute, Station House Officer, Bari Barahamana, Arun Jamwal, said on Sunday.

Irshad suffered bullet injuries on his legs and was rushed to Government Medical Hospital, Jammu, where his condition was stated to be stable, he said.

Saleem who went absconding after the incident along with his service rifle, however, remains to be traced.

A case has been registered in this regard and further investigations being carried out, he added.
