The clash of the haves and have nots is over, at least in the doggy world. A new pet salon at King’s Circle called Oh My Dog is now offering beauty and grooming treatments to strays as well as pedigree pooches. Treatments range from bubble baths to clipped claws and haircuts. And the best part: good souls who bring in the strays get 50 per cent off on any package they go in for that caters to the roadside mongrels.
“I always wanted to work with animals. The original idea was to start a shelter for strays but I don’t know much about the rules surrounding donations. So I thought that I would start this, collect some money and begin work on the shelter,” says Nina Joshi, 26, owner of the pet salon, adding that, in the process of starting Oh My Dog, she didn’t want to ignore strays altogether. “That’s why the salon allows strays.”
The salon caters to all dog breeds. However, good souls, who take the initiative and bring in strays for a clean-up treatment or grooming session, can avail of a 50 per cent
discount on the packages offered. Nina says, “Yes, some clients have an issue with their pet’s health and hygiene given that we also allow strays but we believe that cleanliness is next to dogliness.”
The packages vary according to the dog’s size and breed. Nina says, “A cocker spaniel will need a haircut but a bull dog won’t.” The prices too vary, with grooming treatments starting from Rs 500 and going all the way till Rs 1,400. And which breeds are easier to handle? “I mostly get Labradors, Pugs and Cocker Spaniels. All are friendly but Labs are big, strong and stubborn. However, I never muzzle a dog unless absolutely required,” says Nina.
Oh My Dog also keeps pooch accessories, dog food, shampoos and other products. Pet parents can also purchase coupons starting at Rs 500 as gifting options.
The salon is located at Ram Nivas, plot no 46/A, shop no 6, King’s Circle. Email: email@example.com or call 9820643128
