USING FRAUDULENT means owners of a petroleum product depot increased the period of licence deed by their own hands and would have got away had the administration and police working in conjunction not exposed their game.

According to Betma police, SDM Depalpur G S Kanodia had been investigating complaints against M/s ST Petrol Camp, located in village Machal, since May 10.

It had been informed that a large quantity of naphtha was being stored without permission and was being sold openly from there. Investigations revealed the complaint to be true and he gave instructions in writing to the Betma police for taking appropriate action.

Acting on the same, the police conducted a raid on the premise and while checking company records and documents found that the licence deed had already expired and the owners had extended the same by overwriting with a pen on the legal documents.

Large stocks of naphtha stored above the licence agreement were seized from the company godown.

The police have registered a case against owners Jasbeer Sharma of RNT Marg and Omprakash Vyas of Vrindavan Colony. The two have been charged under Sections 420, 467, 468 and 471 of the IPC. The case has been forwarded to the petroleum company for taking appropriate action.
