DISTRICT SUPPLIES Department seized 18,442 litre petrol worth Rs 9.44 lakh from three petrol pumps during surprise inspection on Thursday. Samples were also taken from petrol pumps for laboratory tests. Cases have been registered against the petrol pump owners under Section 3/7 of Essential Commodities Act 1955.
According to sources, 14,571 litres of petrol worth Rs 7.46 lakh was seized from Messers Vaishnavi Fuel, BPC dealer on Annapurna Road for stock variation. The quantity of fuel stocks as shown in the register varied from what was stored in pump’s tank.
Messers P C Auto Service (HPC dealer) on Khandwa Road and Messers Adinath Highway (IOC dealer) were found guilty of short delivery. Their faulty machines released 0.25 ml - 0.75 ml less during delivering five-litre petrol. About 2,628 litres of petrol worth Rs 1.44 lakh was seized from P C Auto Service while 1045 litres worth Rs 53,525 was seized from Messers Adinath Highway.
The petrol and diesel samples were also taken from Messers Usha Raj Fuel (Mhow Naka), Messers Kshama Automobile (Phuti Kothi) and Messers Coco BPC Pump (Chandan Nagar) for lab tests, an official release said.
