The producer of Phoonk, Azam Khan, is making a sequel to the caw caw movie — but without Ram Gopal Varma at cawing distance.
Milind Gadagkar, writer of Phoonk, will direct the sequel. Khan says that the casting will remain more or less the same, depending on the story’s requirements.
At a time when most film production houses are backing out of projects, Khan is ready to go with the sequel.”I think after the meltdown, we must concentrate on making economically viable movies. The investment should be low and the returns high.”
It’s believed that the director has been changed because Varma’s fee was unaffordable. The producer rubbishes that though, stating, “The director had been finalised when Phoonk was released six months ago. We’d like to save Ramu for bigger
projects.” Khan adds, “Milind was extremely keen on the project. Anyway, there’s no hard and fast rule for employing the same director for sequels.”
