Read: Janaki Krishnan, author, Breaking Barriers
Madame Curie: An Biography Eve Curie I read this book right after college, when I was rather direction-less. Reading about Marie Curie’s poverty, struggles and her single-minded devotion to science helped me make up my mind on what I had to do in life.
The Eiger Obsession: Facing the Mountain that Killed my Father John Harlin III It traces Harlin’s obsession with Mount Eiger in the Swiss Alps. John’s father John Harlin II, one of the most intrepid Alpine climbers of his day, had died tragically trying to scale the north face of the Eiger. Being an amateur climber myself, I could
identify with the fearful attraction that the author has for the mountain that claimed his father’s life.
Summer Lightning P G Wodehouse The book opened up an immense world of humour and showed how language can be delightfully manoeuvred to provide pleasure to people. It also changed something in me and my world view.
The Count of Monte Cristo Alexandre Dumas Despite the vast array of characters and sub-plots, Dumas never loses his central thread and manages to sustain the thrill of the revenge theme and
bitterness of the hero, Edmond Dante, throughout.
Forgive Us Our Trespasses Lloyd C Douglas The book is based on the line from the Lord’s Prayer — ‘forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us’. If we do someone a good turn, that someone may pass on that good turn to someone else and it would spread. A good idea.

Hyderabad Blues 2 This song and the singer Shafqat Amanat Ali have always managed to lift my mood and I love how much soul this melody has in it.
Tere bin nahin lagda
Traffic Signal This is one of the many songs of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan that really brings out his excellence and skills as a composer. The simplest of melodies are hardest to sing and that’s exactly what he’s done with this one.
The Heart of Life
Continuum Continuum is the third studio album by American musician John Mayer. Mayer is one of the best singer/song-
writers of this century. And this song has always helped me get out of tough situations.
Ek bagiya mein (ooh la la la)
Sapnay This song simply takes me back to my days of driving down to Shivaji Park with my brother Siddharth for our piano lessons. The mixed feelings of the pressure on how I’m going to play at my piano class as well as enjoying a
fantastic song is unexplainable.
Murder 2 Sometimes one can surprise oneself and never have the answer to the way things
happen. And that’s exactly how ‘Aa zara’ happened for my brother and me. We got the opportunity to work with Sunidhi Chauhan, who believed in our music and took this song to another level. This song earned us our first award as best composer. It will always be special.

The Table Colaba
The dish I tried here was a grouper roasted in Japanese aromatic. The fish, which is delicately relaxed on the bed of baby spinach, is purely sharp and high in iron minerals. Also, the toppings of spring onion fondue make the dish amazing.
Two One Two Bar and Grill Worli
My favourite dish here is the lamb chops with onion marmalade and balsamic jus. They are tender, very flavourful and come with perfect seasoning. The onion marmalade enhanced the palate to accompany the flavour. And the rich and shiny balsamico jus just made my meal perfect.
The Tasting Room Lower Parel
One must try the prawns ajilo if eating at this restaurant. The prawns are perfectly tossed in olive oil with a gentle flavour of garlic, a hint of paprika and finished with butter. Though the dish is simple, it is absolutely delicious .
Bungalow 9 Bandra
A dish which I enjoyed while eating here was the lemon-grass chilli marinated grilled chicken. The chicken with a hint of lemongrass gave an aromatic flavour to the palate along with a pungent touch of chilli. The dish was truly delicious.
I tried the stir fried duck when I had a meal at Busaba. The duck blended well with the caramelised orange, giving a hint of citrus to my palate. It was a well balanced meal along with red wine and bok choy.

Forrest Gump 1994
I love actor Tom Hanks in this film. The storytelling and the subtle but powerful messages the movie gives throughout are very gripping. It keeps you glued till the very end.
The Notebook 2004
It is by far the most intense, beautiful and heart touching love story I have seen. I have watched it almost 10 times and each time, it makes me fall in love. And what is interesting is that it teaches you how to fall deeper in love with the same man. Beautiful performance by the star cast.
I can watch this film over and over again for the sheer brilliance of the acting by both Jessica Lange and Tammy Blanchard. It is one
of my favourite films.
The Social Network 2010
I love a lot of things about this film — from the characterisation to the way they have shot it, to the
background scores and also the cinematography. Also, since social networking is picking up so fast in today’s world, it gives you a good insight into things and helps you learn a lot about it.
Andaz Apna Apna 1994
I love this film for its madness and the insanely witty
dialogues. Such natural performances, and even if a few things were over the top, it was truly enjoyable. I heard it’s
getting remade. I am sure I would also love to watch that a million times over like the way I watch this one.
