THE LUCKNOW bench of the High Court has sought to know from the state government how a wasteland was allotted in the name of film star Amitabh Bachchan in Barabanki district. The directive has come on a PIL filed by Satya Narain Shukla of Barabanki on Monday against the actor for acquiring the wasteland.
Information had also been sought from Barabanki district magistrate in this connection.
According to information, the wasteland in Daulatpur village under Fatehpur tehsil was allegedly entered into the name of Amitabh Bachchan, son of Harvansh Rai Bachchan. Its entry into the revenue records was done with retrospective effect (1983). Advocate general SMA Kazmi said necessary action was being taken in the case.
Shukla in his PIL has said as Bachchan is not a Dalit, he was can’t be allotted a wasteland. It is learnt that the High Court had directed standing counsel to collect information from the government. The court has fixed October 16 as next date of hearing.
