Starting Monday, the first revenue Metro train running on Gurgaon-Qutub Minar Metro corridor plied after a passenger-less pilot train completed a trip on the entire 14.47 km track to ensuring that all safety related preparations were in place.
Unlike in Delhi where generally the first revenue train sometimes doubles as a pilot train loaded with passengers in the morning, this corridor will have passenger-less pilot trains for an unspecified period, DMRC officials said.
DMRC spokesperson Anuj Dayal said a pilot train will precede the first revenue train of the day daily to check safety related issues such as signaling, electrification, track and others in days to come on the gurgaon line which was a new line.
“Today, a pilot train completed the trip just before the start of the first revenue train at 8 am. The same pilot train will make a trip before the first revenue train before 6 am as the track is new. This is a routine safety check for all the services on the track,” he added.
