Piyush, Shashi win badminton trophy

PIYUSH JINGAR and Shashi Rege won the Inter-School Junior Badminton Trophy played at Narayan Bagh Balvikas Kendra. The competition was organised by Sartaj Academy and played under aegis of the Sports and Youth Welfare Department.

PIYUSH JINGAR and Shashi Rege won the Inter-School Junior Badminton Trophy played at Narayan Bagh Balvikas Kendra. The competition was organised by Sartaj Academy and played under aegis of the Sports and Youth Welfare Department.

In the finals, Piyush Jingar of Gujarati School defeated Gaurav Gupta of New Digambar Public School by a margin of 21-13 and 21-13.

In the girls’ finals, Shashi Rege of National Public School beat schoolmate Apoorva Phatak in a keenly contested match by 21-16 and 21-19 to lift the coveted trophy. 

Indore District Badminton Association Vice-President Anil Bhandari was the chief guest while Sports and Youth Welfare Department Sports Officer Rajesh Shakiya presided over the function and distributed prizes to the winners and runners-up.

The Inter-School Open Sub-Junior Badminton Tournament organised by Sartaj Academy would be played at Narayan Bagh Balvikas Kendra from August 13. The tournament would be held for boys and girls in the 10, 12, 14 and 17 years age groups respectively.

Any number of entries can be sent from a school on or before August 12 to tournament convenor Dharmesh Yashlaha.

Dr Agarwal, Subhash win
DR B K Agarwal and Subhash Jhanwar won the Seeta Jhanwar Pair Bridge Competition organised by the Indore Contract Bridge Association held at Yeshwant Club.

Dr Agarwal/ Subhash scored 92 points to win the title while Dr Anil Vijayawargiya/ Jitesh Agarwal with 87 points took the second spot.

Fencing meet from today
INTER-SCHOOL FENCING Competition jointly organised by the Department of Education and St Umar Higher Secondary School would commence tomorrow and it would conclude on August 12. The competition would be held in the 19 years age group for boys and girls.
