Ram Manohar Lohia National Law University in Lucknow is preparing an astrological database of its students. This, it says, will be useful in the pupils’ personality development.
“Planets have a lot to do in the making of your (students’) personality. On the basis of (astrological) findings, students will be advised to perform certain things, which will bring positive changes in their personality,” Vice-Chancellor Balraj Chauhan said.
Students will be asked to give details relating to their birth — time, date and place. On the basis this, charts of the positions of Jupiter and Saturn at the time of their birth will be made. If the paths of the two planets do not synchronise
at the time of a student’s birth (implying unfavourable circumstances), she/he will have to wear a ring with a stone.
The university was set up in 2005, and the first batch of law students is graduating now. The university has taken steps in instilling confidence among its students through psychological studies. The studies will consider students’ behavioural traits such as biting of fingernails or shaking of feet, which indicate lack of confidence.
Chauhan said the university planned to carry out psychological mapping and astro-scanning together.
This will be a voluntary exercise and no one will be forced to participate. The information will be secret and shared with
students in sittings with an astrologer.
The university is planning to seek the services of astrologer Pawan Sinha in this venture. During a visit to the university, Sinha told students that yoga and 10-15 minutes of meditation helped develop their personalities and overcome “bad habits”.
The university is roping in a famous astrologer to prepare the students’ database.
