THE PLANTATION campaign to mark centenary of Guru Golwalkar began with a plantation programme in Police Training Centre at Kila Maidan on Sunday.

Indore Mayor Uma Shashi Sharma inaugurated this campaign by planting saplings along with mute and hearing-impaired children here.

Speaking on the occasion Sharma said that Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) has prepared a Neem-Rath that would go around the city for one month and inform public about importance of trees. She informed that IMC is constantly working towards developing gardens and green belts in the city.

MLA Usha Thakur asked all the Corporators to ensure maximum plantation in their respective wards. Devkrishna Sankhla said that abundance of trees and greenery could solve major problems like pollution and water scarcity in the city.

Police Training Centre DIG S K Nayak, Anil Bindal, Sapna Chauhan, Corporator Sanju Govind Kushwah, Sumanlata Verma, Satish Kaushik and Advisor to Mayor Santosh Mehta were present in the programme.
