“Please save me from madam, I don’t want to work there anymore,” is all that Meena can manage to say, said a person who claims to be her distant relative.
Hospital staff confirm that she was disturbed and not speaking much. Meena, 48, who was shifted to city’s Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital on Wednesday after being traced by Delhi Police, is from North 24-Parganas in West Bengal.
She was brought to the hospital with an old burn injury and a fracture on her right wrist. “She is stable and is recovering. She is under the supervision of doctors from orthopaedic, surgery and burn and plastic departments. Because of the nature of the injuries, she also had to be kept under the supervision of the surgical department,” said Dr Sunil Saxena, head of the department, Emergency, RML.
“She has a fracture on her right wrist and is being treated by an orthopaedic doctor,” who did not want to be named because he is not authorised to speak to the media. “She is conscious and is speaking. She has been kept in the surgical ward,” he added.
Meena was one of the maids at Jaunpur parliamentarian Dhananjay Singh and his wife Dr Jagriti Singh’s residence. They were arrested for allegedly after their 35-year-old maid, Radhika Bhadra, died after alleged torture at their hands.
Meena along with the 17-year-old domestic help and Radhika could have been brutally tortured by the couple by using hot and sharp objects.
