Can you believe this… Prime Minister Manmohan Singh earns almost 2,000 times less than cricket star Sachin Tendulkar in one minute.

Dr. Singh, who handles the nation's affairs earns only 57 paise per minute, while Sachin earns Rs 1,163 per minute, the Asian Age quotes Saamna, the mouthpiece of the right-wing Shiv Sena, as saying.

Making a comparison, Saanma said that President Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam earns at Rs 1.14 per minute, almost 1,000 times less than what Tendulkar earns, but an improvement on what Dr. Singh takes home.

While the Prime MInister earns Rs.3,60,000 a year, the President earns Rs.6,00,000 per annum.

A list of top earners compared by the paper shows industrialist and Reliance Group Chairman Mukesh Ambani earning Rs 413 per minute. Ambani received Rs 21.72 crores without any benefits last year. Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan earning Rs. 361 per minute, three times less than Tendulkar and followed by Shahrukh ‘King' Khan who earns Rs.247 per minute. His salary has been calculated on the basis of his bank balance, which last year stood at Rs 13 crores.

As per Saamna, Sachin has signed a Rs 180 crores per annum deal with an ad agency. He also receives Rs 2,35,000 for a Test and Rs 2,50,000 for a one-day match. So, in total he receives Rs 61.15 crores, which comes to Rs 1,163 per minute.
