PM granted special permission to minister for state to complete his films

D Napoleon spent 18 years of his life, playing roles in South Indian films but he did not leave silver screen behind to take up his new role as minister for State Social Justice and Empowerment in Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's cabinet. After he became minister Napoleon took special permission from Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to complete his pending films.

"I took special permission from Prime Minister to complete my pending assignment" says minister for State for Social Justice and Empowerment, D Napoleon, while he adds that his passion for acting still continues. "Right now I am not doing any films," said Napoleon who has co starred in Ponnar Shankar along with superstar Kamal Hassan. "It was experience working in that film since movies scripted by our chief minister, M, Karunanidhi," said D Napoleon in a brief chat with Hindustan Times, while he added that he returned week ago to Delhi after completing his pending film.

Napoleon, who arrived in town this morning along with union minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Mukul Wasnik, appeared to be mesmerized by the beauty of the hill town. He faintly remembered how film icon MG Rama Chandran who later became chief minister of Tamil Nadu spent 40 days shooting in different locations in Himachal Pradesh.

Napoleon who still supports his handle bar moustache, deep interest in photography was evidently visible when he halted briefly at state headquarters of Congress in Shimla along with Mukul Wasnik who is also general secretary of All India Congress committee. Napoleon went on clicking pictures, when he sat across Congress legislature party leader Vidya stokes at Congress office.

He began his political career in the late 1980s as a personal assistant to his uncleminister in Tamil Nadu at that time. After successfully winning his first election for the Tamil Nadu assembly on Dravidia Munnettra Kazhagam (DMK), ticket in 2001 from Villivakkam constituency, he lost in 2006, when he contsted against actor SV Shekhar.

In 2009 he is growing popularity in movie buff Tamil Nadu helped him to win in Lok Sabha elections in from Perumbalur in Tamil Nadu.

Not only he has passion for films, the southern star that had acted in more than 100 films is also good inmterest in sports. He has used his height to play basketball. "He is good player of basket ball since his college days" says Natizier a friend of Napoleon who accompanied him for his daylong visit to Shimla. Natiziers say that actor turned politician s has sharp businessman he also runs a software business what he started in low note is spread in different countries.
