PMO lists projects to mark 100 days of Modi govt
The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) has asked several ministries, including the highways ministry, to draw up a list of projects that would get started or commissioned, to mark 100 successful days in office for Narendra Modi.
The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) has asked several ministries, including the highways ministry, to draw up a list of projects that would get started or commissioned, to mark 100 successful days in office for Narendra Modi.
Last week, for instance, the PMO wrote to the Union road transport and highways ministry directing them to provide a list of projects which are either ready for inauguration or laying of foundation stone in the next 30-40 days.
“Similar communication from PMO has gone to other infrastructure ministries as well. The PM wants to send the message that rapid infrastructure development is high on the priority list of his government. Though work on these projects started during the UPA regime, many of them are ready now,” said a senior government functionary.
Sources say the PMO has started the process of shortlisting projects Modi can inaugurate by the time his government completes 100 days in office on September 6.
The highways ministry has sent a list of 14 highway projects, majority of which will be ready for inauguration in August.
Besides, the ministry has also sent a list of an additional 12 highway projects which will be ready for the laying of foundation stone by mid-August.
Fast tracking work on the highways sector is a key agenda of the BJP-led NDA government.
The much touted National Highways Development Programme was also launched during the NDA’s previous term in office by then PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
