A rally was held by the SOS International, an organisation of people displaced from Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK), against the alleged apathy of the successive state governments to their problems here on Sunday.
Rajiv Chuni, chairman of the organistaion, said 12 lakh displaced people have only being given assurances till now. He said both the National Conference and Congress have made commitment to them to resolve their issues but even the proposal in this regard has not been cleared by the Cabinet.
He said the proposed package for the community includes financial package, recommendations to the union HRD ministry for reservation of their wards in professional colleges and constitution of an apex committee to act as a bridge between the government and displaced people for redressal of their grievances.
Chunni said but even the cabinet meeting to clear this proposal has not been held.
The SOS has also criticised the role of the BJP in the just concluded assembly session for not raising their issues in the house. "We too want to be the part of the mainstream, but, we are not given representation in the state legislature," he said.
