Hundreds of Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) refugees on Monday staged a demonstration in front of the divisional commissioner's office to register their protest against non-fulfillment of their long-pending demands.
Led by PoK Refugee Displaced Persons Front president Yudhvir Singh, refugees demanded one-time settlement of their demands and threatened to launch agitation against the government apathy.
"We have been protesting for so many years, but government is paying no heed to our demands. We want full and final rehabilitation and settlement package for refugees. This is last time we have highlighted our concern to government. We will intensify the agitation, if the government fails to fulfil our demands," Singh said.
The refugees handed the memorandum to divisional commissioner, seeking one-time settlement-cum-rehabilitation package from the Centre and state governments on the pattern of displaced Kashmiri Pandits.
They have also demanded reservation to their children in education and employment.
