Poland has gone through ups and downs right after their first appearance in 1934. After their early first round exit from the tournament in 1938, Poland could not enter again before 1974.
Even while they were not able to bag the Cup, the year turned out fruitful as they stood at the third place in the tournament.
Poland again reached the same position in 1982 but since then they have not been able to strike any better.
Poland has performed impressively at the World Cup 2006 qualifiers losing only against England in their group. They managed a decent total of 14 goals.
And with the presence of star goalkeeper Jerzy Dudek, of the Champions League fame, the squad needs just a little push to outshine Germany.
