Eleven people - allegedly part of a gang of thief and robbers - were arrested in Ghaziabad district in Uttar Pradesh on Friday, the police said.
Three other men who are part of the gang are absconding, the police said. The arrested were in the age group of 20-25 years.
The police arrested Kallu, Pinky Saxena, Jeetu, Rahul, Kishan Verma, Manoj Saini, Minto, Gulzar and Bittoo from different places in and around the city. Kallu was said to be the head of the gang.
"These people have committed over 90 thefts and loots at various places and some of them have even went to jail earlier. They used to steal anything they saw at a place, including objects such as manhole covers, cycles, sanitary fittings, taps or any other thing they could get a hand on," Superintendent of Police (City) Vijay Bhushan said.
"We have recovered nine purses, four mobile phones, four chains and three bikes from them. We are taking them on remand and hope to recover more stolen goods from them," he said.
"Three of the arrested were also involved in breaking into three different banks in Allahabad," Bhushan said.
