THE POLICE arrested the domestic help of the retired Home department official who along with his wife was murdered on Friday at their resident at 19/234 Indiranagar on Sunday. The servant identified as Jaswant was placed under arrest at KGMU’s trauma centre, where he had been admitted with critical injuries on his head.
It is pertinent to mention that on Friday, a woman at Sector 19, Indira Nagar had seen her neighbour Gulab Chandra’s servant Jaswant going on a rickshaw with blood oozing from his head.
Jaswant’s sister-in law had later rushed him to the trauma centre. In the meantime, Gulab Chandra’s neighbours rushed to his place to discover that both he and his wife Saraswati were battered to death.
The police have managed to record the statement of Jaswant at the trauma centre. Police said that Jaswant admitted that he was at Gulab Chandra’s residence when the incident took place.
However, when asked how he got injured, Jaswant kept on beating the bush. Jaswant is among those being suspected in connection with the incident.
However, despite Sunday’s development the motive for the murder is still not clear. Jaswant’s wife Jagrani has been changing her statements ever since the incident took place.
But, after the recovery of Jaswant’s blood stained shirt from his brother Jaikaran’s place and the subsequent recovery of a sharp edged weapon from Gulab Chandra’s place, the cops were convinced that Jaswant had a hand in the murder.
Police said that Jaswant would be interrogated further after his condition improves. Police believe that more than one person were involved in the double murder. Significantly, the cops had found all valuables intact at Gulab Chandra’s place after the murder leading to the belief that the couple was murdered for some personal reason.
