india Updated: Oct 09, 2006 01:17 IST

RATIBAD POLICE on Sunday busted a five-member gang of vehicle lifters and recovered 10 vehicles from their possession. District Superintendent of Police (SP) Bhopal Anant Kumar Singh said Ratibad police had been pursuing a gang of vehicle lifters for a long time.

The police knew about a gang of youngsters, who used to assemble at the cremation ground near Nehru Nagar. Some of them had criminal record including involvement in incidents of vehicle lifting.

Following this Ratibad Station House Officer (SHO) S R Jha formed a team to get hold of the boys and they were brought to the police station.

When interrogated, the youth confessed to their involvement in incidents of vehicle lifting and on their tip-off 10 stolen two-wheelers were recovered.

The youth arrested include Manish, Ganesh, Tulsi, Akram and Santosh. Manish and Santosh among them are son and father. They are all residents of shanties in Nehru Nagar.

Singh hoped that further interrogation from arrested youth would lead to recovery of more stolen vehicles.
