Atleast seven persons were arrested in Avidi village of East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh when police busted an oil racket and seized 60,000 litres of oil.
Three drivers and an equal number of cleaners were held in Kothapeta Mandal after police raided the village yesterday on a tip off that some persons were selling Naphtha oil illegally, Amalapuram police said.
The arrests were made after three tankers carrying oil from Thatipaka Oil Refinery to Viskahpatnam Petro Chemical limited halted at Avidi for oil transaction with three purchasers involved in the racket, they said.
One purchaser Nukaraju was held while another Satyaraju escaped from the scene, police said.
A cash sum of Rs 5700 and a mobile phone was seized from them.
