Police constable arrested for Jethwa murder

A constable from Junagadh district has been arrested in connection with the alleged murder of RTI activist and green crusader Amit Jethwa in Ahmedabad, police said on Tuesday.

A constable from Junagadh district has been arrested in connection with the alleged murder of RTI activist and green crusader Amit Jethwa in Ahmedabad, police said on Tuesday.

"We have arrested one Bahadursinh Wadher, a police constable from Jungadh in connection with the killing of Jethwa. Wadher was posted in the Gir-Gadhada region of Junagadh," DCP (crime), Himanshu Shukla said.

According to sources, the crime branch has detained couple of other persons and are questioning them about the case.

Jethwa had filed a public interest litigation (PIL) against illegal mining in Gir forest region in High court few days before he was shot dead from close range by two unknown motorcycle-borne assailants near the Gujarat High Court on July 20.

His father Bhikabhai Jethwa had alleged that BJP MP from Junagadh, Dinu Solanki was behind murder of his son.

He had said that Solanki had threatened him and his son many times threatened over phone and also in public.
