The police are investigating the history sheeters in the Bandra (East) to trace the accused involved in assaulting and robbing a senior citizen Sunita Shinde (60).

Shinde, who is undergoing treatment at Hinduja Hospital, is stable, the police said.

On Tuesday, when Shinde was alone in her flat in Shiv Sagar building in Khar (East), an unidentified person barged into the house and hit her with a heavy object. He fled with Shinde’s gold ring and a necklace.

Shinde’s son and daughter-in-law were at work while her eight-year-old granddaughter Aayushi was in school when the incident took place.

It is only after Aayushi returned from school and did not get any response after knocking at the door, did she inform the neighbours and her parents. When the door was broken Shinde was found lying unconscious on the sofa.

“We are enquiring with the residents and the servants to find out if anybody had seen a stranger entering or leaving the building,” said Senior Police Inspector Prashant Bagade of Nirmal Nagar police station

“We are also questioning criminals in our record who have similar offences registered against them,” Bagade added
