Police raid Gujjar leader home

india Updated: Jul 27, 2008 20:04 IST

Rajasthan Police raided the house of a Gujjar leader in muzaffarnagar who allegedly announced a bounty of Rs five crore on the head of Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje Schindia but failed to arrest him.

Police on Saturday raided the house of vice-president of the Uttar Pradesh state unit of All India Gujjar Maha Sabha, Choudhury Virendra Singh, in Saharanpur but could not arrest him owing to resistance from Gujjar activists.

Singh had allegedly announced the bounty during an agitation in Saharanpur on May 28. A criminal case has been registered against him for intimidation and abetment of commission of offence by the public.
