Police raids Cine Club, 27 held

THE CENTRAL Kotwali police today raided Cine Club, and arrested 27 persons for gambling and seized thousands of rupees from them.

THE CENTRAL Kotwali police today raided Cine Club, and arrested 27 persons for gambling and seized thousands of rupees from them.

According to preliminary information, the police found that only six persons were members of the Club situated on the first floor of Johari Palace, M G Road while around 21 others who have been arrested were outsiders.

There was no entry in the register to indicate whose guests they were. Police had been receiving information that a gambling den was being run in the club and this evening at around 8 pm, they raided the club. As soon as the news of the raid spread, a large crowd of curious onlookers gathered outside the building, which was sealed off by the police.

The club is owned by some Patel, while it was being run by one Dharmendra Sharma, who has also been arrested.
