Police rescue girl; three persons arrested in J&K

Police rescued a Kashmiri girl, who was being taken to Chhatisgarh by three persons for flesh trade.

Police rescued a young Kashmiri girl, who was allegedly being taken to Chhatisgarh by three persons in Jammu for being forced into the flesh trade, and arrested the trio, that also included a woman, officials said.

Police intercepted a Delhi-bound bus at Saiswan check post on Jammu-Pathankote National Highway in Kathua district on Wednesday night, they said.

During the searches, police became suspicious of three people on board who were accompanying a young girl and started questioning them.

The girl narrated the alleged kidnapping incident to the police, following which Babu Ram, Shiv Shankar and Pitar Bhai were arrested, they said.

The girl hailed from the Nagrota area, officials said adding that she was allegedly being taken to Chhatisgarh against her wish to be inducted into prostitution.

The girl will be reunited with her family, officials said adding that a case has been registered.
