The city police are putting in best efforts to ensure foolproof security arrangement for Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's visit to IMT Manesar this Friday.
During a surprise check, the department found several officers skipping patrolling duties in PCR vans or motorcycles.
According to a senior police officer, all the PCR vans and riders (motorcycle-borne beat constables) have been issued strict instructions.
They would be deployed all along National Highway-8 right from the Delhi border toll plaza to Manesar.
On Monday, police commissioner KK Sindhu held a meeting with all DCPs, ACPs and crime branch teams to discuss the security plan.
Although, it is not clear whether the PM's convoy would take the highway route or he would land at the helipad inside the NSG complex or a special helipad will be created near the venue, the police do not want to take any chance.
The city police have 51 PCR vans and 44 riders.
One PCR has a team of six police personnel. The teams work in shifts. Anyone found missing from their duties would have to face strict action, the officer said.
"We are conducting surprise checks around the city and we want our men to be alert. One ACP has been deployed to keep a check on PCR vans and the riders. He is also responsible to check deployment of officers in each team," said Maheshwar Dayal, DCP (crime).
