Seven persons including a policeman were injured in a group clash in Nayapura in Indore after women in the area entered into an altercation over an issue of fetching water, police said on Wednesday.
The incident occured late last night and the dispute took a communal colour when members of two communities started pelting stones and damaged vehicles parked in the area, they said.
However, police reached the spot immediately and the situation was brought under control.
The injured were admitted to a nearby hospital for treatment, police said.
Four persons have arrested in connection with the clash and a case has been registered, police said adding heavy security has been deployed to keep a vigil in the communally sensitive area.
