Leader of the Opposition in the Kerala Assembly Oommen Chandy on Sunday lamented the trend of political parties to ignore party policies and manifestos and focussing only on winning elections.
Inaugurating the 'remembrance day' of late Congress leader TO Bava, on his first death anniversary here, Chandy said there was no place for party policies and manifestos as in the olden days. Political parties aim was somehow to win the elections.
People had lost their faith in the political parties as they (political parties) have brought in a shift in their style of functioning, he said, adding all political parties were responsibile for it.
Late Bava's style of political functioning was a model, he said, pointing out that Bava was one of the prominent leaders who gave prominance for policy programmes and ideologies.
VJ Poulose, President, Ernakulam District Congress Committee, presided.
