The Modi-led NDA government has a storm to weather with the upcoming "muqabala" (contest) in the monsoon session of Parliament. Realising this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called the maiden meet of all NDA constituents and its allies on Monday at his residence 7 Race Course Road.

He has also acknowledged that it will be a challenge for the government at Centre to garner enough votes from other parties to pass key bills introduced by BJP ahead of the next parliamentary session.

The Centre has recently attracted the ire of Opposition over the Lalit Modi row, Vyapam scam and other raging controversies, including demanding the resignation of Union external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj and Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

"...Just wait to see the 'muqabla' (contest) we will have in some days," he had said during an event in Jammu.
