On the night between May 15 and 16, 2008, Aarushi Talwar and her family’s domestic help Hemraj Banjade were murdered in an identical manner in their Noida flat. Their necks were slit with a sharp weapon and heads smashed with a blunt object, suspected to be a golf club.

The double murder at home in Noida horrified the nation. The teenager’s parents Nupur and Rajesh Talwar were accused of the double murder and convicted.

Seven years after the murder, Avirook Sen’s book Aarushi combines interviews and an examination of documents to narrate what happened after the two murders were committed in a flat in Noida.
