?Poverty India?s biggest challenge?

VICE PRESIDENT Bhairon Singh Shekhawat today participated in the purnahuti of Atirudra Mahayagna carried out at Mahakaleshwar Temple here. Accompanied by family members, Shekhawat offered prayers at the Shivling and performed rituals at the Yagna.

Mahant Bhawaninandan Yati Maharaj of the Hathiaram Math, Varanasi organised the event aimed at world progress. Speaking on the occasion, Shekhawat said God does not discriminate between poor and a rich in showering blessings, but discrimination prevails in the society on economic and other factors. He said poverty was the biggest challenge before our nation.

Shekhawat, while accepting that the schemes meant for eradicating poverty have not succeeded, said that poor people have first right on government’s coffers. The Vice President felt that developmental and infrastructure-building works have failed in ensuring participation of weaker section of the society.

Yati Maharaj said the ritual was undertaken for the welfare of each section. He also showered blessings on Shekhawat to become the President of the country. Mahamandleshwar Shantigiri Ji Maharaj, who is observing vow of silence for the past 16 years, blessed the devotees.

Former Union minister Digvijay Singh also spoke on the occasion. Kalidas Academy director Kamlesh Dutt Tripathi conducted the programme. Raja Pateria proposed the vote of thanks.
