Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee will attend the concluding rally of "Sampark Abhiyan" launched by Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) in Pune on Saturday, a party leader said.
Apart from Mukherjee, senior leaders Digvijay Singh, Shivraj Patil, Union Power Minister Sushilkumar Shinde, AICC secretary Mohan Prakash are the other prominent leaders to attend the meeting, MPCC spokesman Hussain Dalwai told reporters in Mumbai.
Dalwai said the state unit president Manikrao Thakre had covered all the 288 assembly constituencies during the programme and interacted with local leaders and workers for strengthening the organisation.
The Sampark Abhiyaan was launched in Kudal in Sindhudurg district on June 24.
To a query, Dalwai said regularisation of slums till the year 2000 was a commitment of the Congress party towards inclusive growth and providing housing to the deprived and the needy.
Asked if the Congress will extend the cut off date again for the slums, which have come up after 2000, he said the party is yet to take a stand on the issue.
