Pratyush Sinha is appointed new CVC

Pratyush Sinha was appointed the new Central Vigilance Commissioner (CVC) on Saturday to succeed P Shanker, who demitted office.

A decision to appoint Sinha, a 1969 batch IAS officer of Bihar cadre, for the post was taken at a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and attended by Home Minister Shivraj Patil and Leader of Opposition LK Advani.

Sinha retired as secretary, (Personnel) in July this year. The CVC has a fixed tenure of four years.
